The Enterprise arrives at the paradise planet Haven and Troi is sent a Betazed greeting box to announce her wedding to Wyatt Miller. It's a marriage arranged, in accordance with Betazed tradition, by her mother, Lwaxana. Deanna meets Wyatt and his family for the first time, and Wyatt tells her he's always dreamed of a certain woman - he thought it was Deanna, but it isn't. A Tarellian starship approaches Haven - the Tarellians were thought to be wiped out by biological weapons, and have a terrible disease. They beg for help as Haven is meant to have miraculous healing properties, but it becomes clear that they merely want to die in a peaceful place. The Tarellian woman making the announcement is the woman of Wyatt's dreams. He makes an unauthorised transport to the Tarellian ship, and pledges to try to cure them. Deanna admire his courage and wishes him well. "Haven" was the first appearance of Majel Barrett in the recurring role of Lwaxana Troi and her aide, Mr Homn.

Trivia

• This is the first script Tracy Torme, son of entertainer Mel Torme, who would go on to become a stalwart of The Next Generation and help create Sliders.

• Majel Barrett, of course, had been with Star Trek since the beginning.
